The Tokyo Metropolitan Government operates Tourism Representatives of the City of Tokyo (hereinafter referred to as the Tourism Rep) in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, London, Munich, Milano, Madrid, Sydney ,Paris , and Toronto.
The Tourism Rep encourages people's attention to Tokyo's tourism by circulating tourist information and promoting travel sales to Tokyo in the local community of the above locations.
Especially for 2011, the tourism industry in Tokyo has been facing a rough time due to the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011. The tourism Reps proudly continue to provide information on the charms of Tokyo.
Each member of the Tourism Rep performs the following tasks as an overseas representative of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for its tourism promotions:
Each local staff of the Tourism Rep is a travel professional with great experience in the tourism industry and has been assigned by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to act as a local representative.

TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT MOURN THE DEATH OF TOURISM REPRESENTATIVE OF CITY OF TOKYO IN LOS ANGELES
It is with great sorrow that Tokyo Metropolitan Government announces the death of Ms. Keiko Garrison. Ms. Garrison passed away April 1, 2012.
Ms. Garrison was the first to represent Tokyo tourism in Los Angeles and had been in service there since 2004. Ms. Garrison played an integral role in tourism to Tokyo from Southern California. She was truly a lady and will be dearly missed.
For further assistance, please contact Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau. Another representative in Los Angeles will be appointed in the near future.

Ms. Manami KOBAYASHI
Ms. Kobayashi currently works as a freelance interpreter and a travel consultant. She worked at the San Francisco office of Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) for 15 years until October 2001 and had experience in product development and sales. She has a wide network in the local tourism industry and possesses great tourism know-how.

Ms. Aki HIRAI
Ms. Aki Hirai was born and raised in Japan and has been living in Manhattan, New York, since 1990.
Aki ran the Japanese - International Sales & Marketing department for major hotels in New York. With an excellent reputation, after 11 years of corporate experience, she created her own business.
Aki is a Sales & Marketing Strategist - Consultant and also provides other specialized services. Through years of working with people of different cultures and different industries, Aki has a rich perspective, clear understanding, and strong discipline.

Mr. Kazuhiro MARUMO
Born and raised in Tokyo, Mr. Marumo has lived and worked in the UK since 1982. A publisher by trade, in 1987 he established his own company, which for 20 years has striven to promote and strengthen cultural ties between Japan and the UK through a number of publications including travel guides and directories for use in the UK and Japan. In recent years, he has specialized in the promotion of Japanese food and drink through numerous publications, websites and events, including an annual sushi awards event, as well as many other activities.

Ms. Hiromi WALDENBERGER
Ms. Waldenberger studied in a Japanese high school, transferred to England, and then pursued further studies in a university in Germany. She has been residing there since 1981. She is a nationally certified translator in Germany and is working as an official translator/interpreter in Munich. Through her work and life in Germany, she contributes to German-Japanese communication and has gained great insight into German people’s life, business, and politics.

Mr. Masanori OGIHARA
Mr. Ogihara has been living in Italy since 1993. He currently runs a travel agency in Milan after working for a Japanese travel agency. Through his work experience in the travel industry for many years he has gained deep knowledge about the situation of local travel industry.

Ms. Taeko UEDA
In 2004, Ms. Ueda was involved in making a blue print of "Plan Japon (Nippon plan)", a project for purposes of attracting investment from Japanese tourists and Japanese businesses to Madrid. She has been living in Spain since 1995. and she has a wide network in the local organizations.

Mr.Katsuji TOCHINO
Mr. Tochino has been working for more than twenty years in the field of sales and marketing in tourism. For more than seventeen years of his career, he has been promoting Australian tourism in the Japanese market. He has broad experience in the tourism industry and has worked not only with travel agents but also with suppliers and government organizations.He has built a broad network of contacts both inside and outside the tourism industry.

Ms. Noriko KOIZUMI
A Tokyo native, she started her career with international airline carrier based in this city. She continued it with professional training institutions for executives in Paris. In particular she focused on programs based upon Japanese expertise on industrial processes and production management. She conceived and organized numerous learning expeditions to Japan. Since then she established herself as a communication consultant between France and Japan.

Mr. Akira TSUSHIMA
Akira Tsushima, who has been living in Canada since 1984. is no stranger to tourism as he worked for a major Japanese travel company in its Toronto office and promoted outbound tourism from Canada to Japan.
Previously he worked for a Japanese company that exports products to the United States and for the last ten years in that capacity was its Chief Executive Officer. He currently runs a tourism and investment consulting business.
