Main content starts here.
This route takes in the gardens of an Edo period Daimyo (feudal lord) and a lovely botanical garden providing much-needed relief in the busy city center, and is best attempted by those prepared for a long stroll. The long walk is well-rewarded with beautiful greenery and scenery, however. The Rikugien Edo period garden is designated as a special scenic beauty spot, while the Koishikawa Botanical Garden has a collection of around 4,000 species and a herbarium with medicinal plants preserved from the Edo period.
